WEST WIGHT TRIATHLON

Pool Swim 600m - Bike 35km - Run 7.5km

600 metre pool swim

35k Cycle (MAP OF CYCLE ROUTE)
From the Sports Centre, Queens Road, Bedbury Lane, Military Road, Brighstone Grange, Brighstone Church, Mottistone, Brook, Military Road (turn LEFT!), Brighstone Grange, Brighstone Church, Mottistone, Brook Shute, Shalcombe, Chessell, Newport Road (LEFT to Freshwater), Afton Road (turn RIGHT), Co-op roundabout, School Green Road, Brookside Road, Queens Road, LEFT into transition area.

Due to the traffic lights on Military Road a marshal and timekeeper will be stationed there and will be timing the delay for each cyclist. This will be deducted from the overall time. After considerable thought, this is considered to be the  fairest and safest way of maintaining the event. Safety is our primary concern and cyclists will be disqualified if they proceed through the red light (even on foot!)

As a guide the following (approximate!) mileages on the cycle route may be of use:

· Left to Brighstone (first time) 6.8 miles

· Left at BrighstoneChurch (first time) 7.5

· Left at Brook triangle 10.0

· Left on to Military Road 10.65

· Left to Brighstone (second time) 12.95

· Left at BrighstoneChurch (second time) 13.65

· Right at Brook triangle 16.15

· Right at Afton Road 21.65

· Finish 22.85 miles

 

If you're going to go wrong - it will be at Brook triangle! Take note - you go through twice - first time you turn LEFT; second time you turn RIGHT.

Across school field to Stroud Field, Victoria Road, Afton Road, across the Causeway, turn at Mill Copse and straight back the same way.
